Information You Give Us
When you register as a player we ask for the following. Everything is used to run your membership — we do not sell any of it.
| What we collect | Why we collect it | Our lawful basis |
|---|---|---|
| Name, email address, mobile number, postcode and date of birth | To create and administer your account, confirm you meet our minimum age of 18, and contact you about fixtures and your team. | Performance of our contract with you. |
| Password | To secure your account. Passwords are handled and stored by Firebase Authentication in hashed form — we never see or store your password ourselves. | Performance of our contract with you. |
| League, playing level and preferred positions | To place you in a squad matched to your ability and to balance the teams in each league. | Performance of our contract with you. |
| Emergency contact name, address and telephone number | So we can contact someone on your behalf if you are injured or taken ill at a match. | Protecting the vital interests of you or another person, and our legitimate interest in running matches safely. |
| Medical conditions and health information | So our staff and first aiders can respond appropriately if you are injured or become unwell during a match. This is special category data and we treat it with extra care. | Your explicit consent, and protecting vital interests in a medical emergency. |
| Your marketing preference and your acceptance of our terms | To record what you have agreed to and to honour your choices. | Legal obligation, and consent for marketing. |
Health Information
Information about your health is special category data under UK GDPR, and the law requires us to protect it more strictly than ordinary personal data. We ask for it for one reason only: so that our staff, referees and first aiders can look after you properly if you are hurt or become unwell at a match.
We rely on your explicit consent to hold this information, and on protecting your vital interests in a genuine medical emergency. You can withdraw that consent at any time by contacting us — though please note that without it we may not be able to let you play, because we could not keep you safe on the pitch.
Health information is visible only to the small number of league staff who need it to run match nights safely. It is never shared with other players, never used for marketing, and never used to make decisions about your team or your standing in the league.
Your Emergency Contact
We ask for the name, address and phone number of someone we can call on your behalf. Because that is another person's personal data, please make sure you have told them you are giving us their details and why. We use those details only to contact them in an emergency involving you.
Match Footage And Performance Data
Matches in our leagues are filmed and analysed — that is a core part of what membership provides. This means that when you play, you will appear in video footage and in the performance data we generate from it.
| What we collect | Why we collect it | Our lawful basis |
|---|---|---|
| Video footage of matches you play in | Captured by VEO cameras and GoPros so you can watch your games back, and so we can produce your performance analysis. | Performance of our contract with you, and our legitimate interest in providing match analysis. |
| Performance and tracking data — distance, sprints, speed, positioning and heat maps | To produce your personal performance reports, league statistics and team standings. | Performance of our contract with you. |
| Match records — appearances, goals, cards and disciplinary records | To run the league, maintain standings and apply our Code of Conduct. | Performance of our contract with you, and our legitimate interest in running a fair league. |
Footage and statistics are available to you through your account, and may be visible to other players in your league — for example in league tables, leaderboards and team pages. We may also use short clips or images to promote the league. If you would rather we did not use your image in promotional material, tell us and we will honour that.
Payments
Membership is collected by Direct Debit through GoCardless, and pay-as-you-go fees are arranged directly with us. We never see or store your bank details. You give those to GoCardless, who act as their own data controller for them under their own privacy policy.
What we receive back from GoCardless is your name, the email address you used, and confirmation of whether your Direct Debit was set up and whether each payment succeeded. We use that to activate your membership and keep our accounting records.
Cookies And Website Analytics
We use a small number of cookies and similar technologies.
| What we collect | Why we collect it | Our lawful basis |
|---|---|---|
| Session cookie | A strictly necessary cookie that keeps you logged in. It lasts 14 days and is removed when you log out. | Strictly necessary — no consent required. |
| Usage analytics — pages viewed, device and browser type, approximate location from IP address | Collected via PostHog to understand how the site is used and improve it. Once you log in, these events are linked to your account. | Consent, where required for non-essential cookies and similar technologies. |
| IP address on form submissions | Used briefly to rate-limit our contact and free session forms and prevent spam. | Our legitimate interest in protecting the site from abuse. |
You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking the session cookie will mean you cannot stay logged in.

Our leagues are for players aged 18 and over, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have, we will delete it. Should our junior league launch, we will publish a separate policy covering how we handle young players' data and parental consent before taking any registrations.
